Disney announced Monday it will be bringing Frozen to theaters in 2020, the year before it returns with a brand new film starring Kristen Bell.
The studio said in a statement it will stream the new movie on its “Frozen” app, and will launch an interactive online store for the movie starting in early 2018.
“Disney’s Frozen is a timeless classic and we are thrilled to bring Frozen to the world in the fall,” said Brad Ross, senior vice president of Disney content, entertainment and interactive media, in the statement.
“Frozen is a Disney movie that will forever live on.
We can’t wait to share Frozen with our fans.”
The studio has been working on the film for years, and it had been expected to begin releasing it in theaters this summer, though a final date was not announced.
Frozen was released in 2011 and has been a huge hit in the U.S. and internationally.
It has sold more than $2 billion at the box office, and is currently one of the highest-grossing animated films ever.
